Manchester United have confirmed a deal with Ajax Amsterdam for Netherlands international defender Daley Blind, subject to a medical, and agreeing personal terms.
The stories of his transfer to the Red Devils emerged following Ajax Amsterdam’s withdrawal of the player from their Champions League squad for Sunday's trip to Groningen.
It is believed that a fee of £14 million has been agreed for the 24-year-old.
Blind, who can play as a left-back, centre-back or as a deep-lying midfielder, was one of the star performers for United boss Louis van Gaal at the World Cup.
Man Utd confirmed the deal on their official Twitter account on Saturday, saying the two clubs had reached an agreement.
The 24-year-old is now expected negotiate personal terms and complete his medical over the coming days to become United’s fifth new signing of the Van Gaal era at Old Trafford.
Blind would join Ander Herrera, Luke Shaw, Marcos Rojo and Angel Di Maria in what is shaping up to be a new-look United squad under the Dutchman.
