Man City Held By Norwich At Carrow Road

Manchester City were held to a goalless draw by Norwich City on Saturday afternoon at Carrow Road.

Manchester City missed an opportunity to go on top of the log after log leaders Arsenal were thrashed 5-1 by Liverpool earlier in the day.

Man City are now third on the log after Chelsea beat Newcastle United 3-0 in a game played at the same time as theirs.

In the fourth minute, Yaya Toure found Gael Clichy on the wing, Clichy made a dangerous cross looking for David Silva in the box, but the ball was cleared.

In the 15th minute Nathan Redmond smashed a shot over the bar after receiving the ball deep into the box.

Norwich found the back of the net in the 17th minute after a corner by Redmond that was converted by Gary Hooper, but the goal was ruled out for offside.

In the 31st minute Alvaro Negredo was adjudged to be offside, after Nikica Jolevic found the back net from the build up.

In the 35th minute Negredo's header came off the bar after a brilliant flick from Martin Demichelis.

Bradley Johnson blocked a dangerous cross from Jesus Navas in the 54th minute.

In the 61st minute Russel Martin and Hooper played a lovely one-two that freed Martin to fire a half-volley that went wide of the target.

In the 70th minute Manchester City came close to finding the opener as Negredo headed down Silva's cross, but his header was blocked.

Aleksandar Kolarov's cross took a huge deflection in the 78th minute that nearly caught Norwich keeper John Rubby off guard, but he leaped high to claim the ball.

In the 81st minute Edin Dzeko headed wide of the goals from from James Milner's cross.

In the 88th minute Norwich City nearly stole the game as Redmond's cross was inches behind on-rushing Anthony Pilkington.
