City went ahead in the 9th minute, after Sergio Aguero smashed his left
footed effort past Paulo Gazzaniga, following a cross from Aleksander
Jack Cork tested Costel Pantillimon with a shot from distance in the 29th
minute, but the Romanian was equal to the effort.
Aguero nearly got his second in the 30th minute but the striker's shot from inside the area went just wide.
In the 44th Pablo Osvaldo brought the Saints level with a glorious curling
effort after the striker did well brush off challenges from Vincent Kompany
and Pablo Zabaleta.
Yaya Toure nearly put his side ahead in the 51st minute but the
midfielder's curling effort went inches wide.
In the 66th minute Aguero had a run the Southampton defence, but the
Argentine's failed to put his effort on target.
