Real Madrid beat Celta Vigo 3-0 at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on Monday night in the La Liga, with a brace from Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema getting the other.
The win means Real Madrid remain in third position, but move up to 44 points, five behind leaders Barcelona and Atletico Madrid.
Ronaldo's second goal was his 400th goal in all football, including club and international.
The first real chance of the game fell to Celta Vigo in the sixth minute, but Diego Lopez saved as Charles beat the off-side trap, but couldn’t beat the Madrid goalkeeper in a one-on-one situation.
In the 20th minute Cristiano Ronaldo had a half-chance to open the scoring, but Yoel did well to save at his feet, after Ronaldo got the ball from a Daniel Carvajal cross.
Four minutes later Karim Benzema had a chance for Madrid, but his shot from close range was deflected wide by David Costas.
In the 29th minute Luka Modric beat two defenders and tried a shot from outside the area, but it went narrowly over.
In the 37th minute Rafinha had a chance for Celta, but his attempt from the edge of the area was deflected wide of the goal.
Madrid threatened just before half-time, but couldn’t find the breakthrough and it remained goalless at the break.
Isco went close for Madrid in the 55th minute after getting a great pass from substitute Illaremendi, but his shot lacked power and Yoel made the save.
Another substitute, Jese Rodriguez, had a chance with his first touch of the ball, but his attempt from inside the box went straight to Yoel.
Gareth Bale came on for the last 25 minutes, however the first chance after his introduction, fell to Celta, but Rafinha’s attempted chip over an advancing Lopez went wide of goal.
But a minute later Madrid were in the lead, when Benzema touched in Rodriguez’s cross to beat Yoel and make it 1-0 to the hosts.
In the 75th minute Ronaldo had a chance, but his shot went across the face of goal and wide.
Ronaldo wrapped up the result in the 82nd minute when he tapped in from close range from a Carvajal cross that evaded Benzema before reaching the Portuguese international.
Ronaldo added the third in stoppage time, finishing off Bale's cross from close range.
