Podolski Hits Out At Wenger

Arsenal forward, Lukas Podolski, was left frustrated with another early substitution on Saturday and claims finishing outside the top-four would be a 'disaster' for the Gunners.

The Germany international has only completed two games for Arsenal this season, and again didn’t hear the final whistle in Arsenal’s penalty-win over Wigan Athletic.

Arsenal was 1-0 down at the time and Wenger subbed Podolski to bring on Olivier as second striker next to young starlet, Yaya Sanogo, amid booing from the Arsenal fans.

When asked if he is frustrated with his situation, the 28-year-old admitted:  “It’s the decision of the boss. It’s not always easy when you play for a big club but of course I am not happy to always come out and watch from outside. You cannot be happy with this situation.”

After booking their FA Cup final ticket, Arsenal now have to focus on regaining the top-four spot in the league. They have been overtaken by Everton, who celbrated their seventh successive victory on Saturday.

If Arsenal were to finish outside the top-four it would be the first time in 16 years that they won’t qualify for the Champions League, which would be a ‘disaster’ claims Podolski.

“Every season there is a pressure when you don’t win anything,” Podolski added.

“The fans gets nervous but we have the chance this year to win the FA Cup. The other important thing is to get fourth place back because when you don’t play in the Champions League, it’s a disaster.

Both teams have four games left, but Everton have the more difficult season run-in facing Crystal Palace and both Manchester clubs at home as well as Southampton and Hull away. Arsenal, meanwhile, play West Ham, Newcastle and West Brom at home with trips to Norwich and Hull in between.
