Manchester United boss, Louis van Gaal, has tried take pressure of Angel Di Maria following the Argentine’s British transfer record move to Old Trafford.
The Dutchman said that Di Maria will be available to face Burnley on Saturday but also warned that people can’t expect ‘miracles’ from him alone.
"I am very pleased that we can have such a class player in our squad," Van Gaal told reporters at Di Maria’s unveiling.
"We have many class players but it is important he is a team player. Di Maria can accelerate the game for us and also play in the interests of the team. I hope he will give us good results.
"We cannot expect him to be the miracle after two of three days of training. We have to be the miracle. You have to work for the miracle and he knows that."
Van Gaal revealed Di Maria’s versatility will help his rebuilding process at Manchester United and praised the 26-year-old for his work ethic and teamwork.
"He fits in our philosophy... he played in Real Madrid not only as a wide player but also in the centre of midfield," he continued.
"That is why we are convinced he will succeed."
"He will be a player who enjoys defence, and that's also a reason we have chosen him. But when you see him, you see that he is a very modest guy, he wants to work, he showed that also last year, he played 52 matches and he gave 22 assists.
"How many players can say that? Twenty-two assists! He is a very social human being and in the football world that is not always the case, as you know."
Van Gaal also confirmed that United are keen to further strengthen the squad and a couple of players will also leave before the transfer deadline on Monday.
"The club will (announce) when the time's there. Players will leave, others will come,” he concluded.
