Tottenham Hotspur goalkeeper Hugo Lloris says his side have to be positive following their 5-1 humiliation at the hands of Manchester City and bounce back with a win against Hull City on Saturday.
Spurs suffered an embarrassing defeat to City in midweek and Lloris admits the loss is difficult to comprehend, but his team have to show good character by registering a win on Saturday which will keep them in the race for a Champions League spot.
Spurs currently occupy fifth place on the league table with 43 points, three points behind fourth placed Liverpool and only one point above sixth placed Everton.
If Spurs lose to Hull and results in other matches go against them then they could see themselves drop as low seventh on the league table come the end of the weekend.
With that in mind Lloris has highlighted the importance of getting back to winning ways.
“We have to be positive,” said Lloris.
“When you lose 5-1 at home, it's never easy to digest, but this is football.
“We are fifth, three points behind Liverpool and anything can happen between now and the end of the season. We have to have a good reaction against Hull City.”
Reflecting on the Manchester City game itself, Lloris added that it is important his side don’t accept such results.
“We cannot accept losing like that and have to do more, but we have to keep going because there is still a lot of games between now and the end of the season,” added Lloris.
“There is no way to describe the frustration. City were too strong when it was 11 against 11, but then the red card and the penalty killed us. There is nothing to say after a game like that.”
