Liverpool are reportedly not giving up on Ezequiel Lavezzi as Brendan Rodgers confirms he still wants to add another striker.
It is understood that Paris Saint-Germain are keen to offload at least one of their players, with Lavezzi the favourite to leave the French champions.
However, an injury to Zlatan Ibrahimovic could block the move. The Sweden star was forced out of PSG’s Ligue 1 match against Bastia with a suspected hip problem, while the extend of the injury remains unclear.
Lavezzi’s recent contract negotiations are believed to have broken down and Liverpool are reportedly lining up a £16m move.
After his side's 2-1 victory over Southampton, Brendan Rodgers confirmed he is still in the hunt for another striker to fill the gap left by Luis Suarez who left the club for £75 million.
"I think for Daniel it was just a continuation. We can create chances and score goals," he told reporters.
"Sometimes he will have quiet games but he always looks like he will score a goal. I think he's got 36 in 50 games - that's the best in Liverpool's history.
"We loved the challenge last season of being in the hunt and we want to recreate that. We've been on a great run of form for 18 months now.
"I think we need another striker and we will search for that."
