The Argentine superstar scored two direct free-kicks in the Catalan derby, taking his tally for the current campaign to 11 LaLiga goals. In addition, he equalled Xavi Hernandez's record of 322 wins in the Spanish top flight, as Marca pointed out.
With the 31-year-old needing just 431 games to reach this milestone – 74 matches less than Xavi – there are now just three players who have more wins than he does in LaLiga history.
Real's Raul Gonzalez won 327 of his 550 LaLiga matches, while Andoni Zubizarreta ended up on the winning side 333 times out of 622 appearances.
Iker Casillas's tally of 334 victories from 510 LaLiga fixtures is not that much more than Messi's either, and the Argentine could break the Real legend's record this season already.
There are still 23 game weeks to be played in LaLiga in 2018/19, and Messi now needs just 13 wins to break Casillas' record.
