For the first time, Robert Lewandowski has publicly confirmed that he wants to leave Borussia Dortmund.
The Polish international striker says he has discussed his departure with the defeated Champions League finalists, and all is set for him to join the “club of his choice.”
Lewandowski is widely expected to follow Mario Gotze from Dortmund to Bayern Munich, but while he has made it plain that his future lies away from the Westfalenstadion, he still will not reveal where he will play next season.
“Dortmund is a fantastic club, which I will always admire,” Lewandowski told SportBild.
“But for my future I am wishing for a new challenge.
“I’d like to think that now everything has been resolved and I will be able to join the club of my choice.”
The prospect of Lewandowski leading Bayern's line alongside Mario Mandzukic next season is frightening, and the German Treble winners are hotly tipped to dominate their domestic league as well as European club football for seasons to come.
