Late Strikes Seal Chelsea Win

Chelsea beat Norwich City 3-1 this afternoon at Carrow Road, thanks to two goals in the last ten minutes, after Norwich had come back into the game in the second-half.

In just the fourth minute Chelsea took the lead as Demba Ba controlled a long pass well on the edge of the box, and laid the ball back for Oscar to open the scoring with a good shot into the bottom right corner.

Ba came close to making it two in the 13th minute but his shot from an acute angle was saved by John Ruddy.

From the corner that followed David Luiz tried a shot, but it lacked power, and went safely into Ruddy's hands.

Ba had another chance in the 20th minute as he tried a shot from another long ball that had Ruddy beat, but the ball was cleared by Sébastien Bassong.

In the 23rd minute Norwich had a good chance to draw level, but Jonny Howson was denied by a good save at close range from Petr Cech.

Two minutes later Oscar laid the ball to Andre Schürlrle, but his shot went high.

In the 34th minute Ba tried another shot from outside the box, but it went wide.

In the 42nd minute Alexander Tettey had a chance for Norwich, but his shot missed to the left.

A minute later Robert Snodgrass tried an effort from outside the area, but his attempt also went wide.

Just before the break, Luiz tried a long range shot but it just went over the goal, and at half-time Chelsea led 1-0.

In the second minute of the second-half Ba tried a shot from the six yard line, but he missed to the right.

Norwich began to the get more into the game, and in the 54th minute Anthony Pilkington went close for the Canaries, but his shot from outside the area went wide.

Two minutes later Pilkington tried again from a free kick, but his attempt went over.

In the 58th minute Frank Lampard had a chance for Chelsea, but he shot wide from outside the box.

Tettey tried another shot in the 66th minute for Norwich but the effort from outside the area went just high.

The equalizing goal came for Norwich in the 67th minute, as Ricky van Wolfswinkel headed across goal for Pilkington to head home to make it 1-1.

In the 78th minute Chelsea were almost back in the lead, but substitute Eden Hazard's shot from the middle of the area went wide.

Nathan Redmond had a chance in the 83rd minute for Norwich, but Cech saved his shot from the right side of the box.

In the 85th minute Chelsea did go 2-1 up, Hazard's shot rolling underneath Ruddy and just crossing the line, before the keeper could stop it again.

And another substitute, Willian, made it 3-1 a minute later, as his first-time left-footed shot from the edge of the box, flew into the top corner.
