La Liga Update

Atletico 2-0 Zaragoza: Atletico Madrid pulled seven points clear of third-placed Real Madrid after a straight forward victory over Real Zaragoza at the Vicente Calderon on Sunday night.

The hosts started well and controlled proceedings in the opening half. They took the lead in the 31st minute when Tiago rose high to head home Gabi's corner kick.

The result was all but secured seven minutes before the interval. Arda Turan was fouled in the Zaragoza area and Radamel Falcao stepped up to slot the penalty.

Atletico were well in control of the game in the second half and never looked like conceding as they cruised to victory in front of their appreciative fans.

Betis 2-0 Levante: Real Betis strolled to a comfortable win over Levante at Estadio Benito Villamarin on Sunday. Joel Campbell opened the scoring in the seventh minute before Ruben Castro secured the win in the 63rd minute.

Sociedad 1-1 Deportivo: The fans at Estadio Municipal de Anoeta saw Real Sociedad held to a draw by Deportivo on Sunday. Pizzi put the visitors in the lead with his 27th-minute strike, but Carlos Vela (45) replied on the stroke of half-time to salvage a point for the hosts.
