La Liga Sunday Wrap

It was a quiet Sunday in the Spanish La Liga with only five goals scored across four games as Levante, Elche, Getafe and Real Betis won their respective matches.

Levante kicked-off the Sunday afternoon action with a 1-0 win over Osasuna, but they had to wait until two minutes form time before Jordi Xumetra found the winner. The result sees Osasuna still sitting second form bottom on the table while Levante moved up to ninth place.

A single goal from Javi Marquez in the 62nd minute handed Elche a 1-0 win over Celta Vigo away from home. The win was Elche’s first of the La Liga season and sees them out of the relegation places and on the same number of points as Celta Vigo.

The game of the afternoon was the match-up between Getafe and Espanyol. A brace from Adrian Colunga handed Getafe their third win of the season as they ran out 2-0 victors. Getafe moved up to eighth place on the league table, just behind Espanyol in seventh.

The last game of the day saw Real Betis beat Villarreal 1-0 thanks to a goal from Nigerian Nosa Igiebor. The loss was Villarreal’s first of the season while Real Betis moved up to 11th on the table.
