Real Sociedad 0-0 Malaga: The home side are still without a win this season after failing to score against Bernd Schuster’s team, with the visitors having the better chances but failing to capitalise in this dull affair. They would have hoped to put their opening midweek 2-0 Champions League to loss Shakhtar Donetsk aside but were unable to break down a tough Malaga side.
Almeria 2-2 Levante: The home side surrendered a two-goal lead in the second half to share the spoils with a courageous Levante side who would not give up. The hosts went ahead through a penalty from Jose Antonio Rabasco in the 45th minute before Jesus Joaquin Fernandez doubled their lead in the second half. Nabil El Zhar put Levante back in contention with a penalty after Almeria’s Christian Fernandez was sent off, before Pape Diop completed the visitors’ comeback.
Real Valladolid 0-2 Atletico Madrid: Atletico kept up their early season momentum by picking up an important away win at Estadio Nuevo José Zorrilla to keep them joint top of the Primera Division. A second-half goal by Raul Garcia in the 56th minute and a 72nd minute Diego Costa goal was enough to seal all three points for the visitors.
