Atletico Madrid 4-2 Almeria: Atletico Madrid made it four out of four after easily dispatching Almeria, taking them to the top of the La Liga table temporarily. David Villa opened the scoring for the hosts 15 minutes in before Diego Costa's penalty doubled the hosts' lead after a foul on Filipe Luis by Hernan Pellerano. The visitors managed to get a goal back just before half-time, Rodri firing high into the net after picking up a loose ball in the penalty area. Atleti then restored their two goal advantage when Tiago latched on to a quickly taken free-kick by Gabi. Juanfran cut the ball back from the right hand side to Raul Garcia, who backheeled it into the net four minutes later to put game beyond Almeria's reach. Atletico maintained their perfect start to the season while Almeria are still looking for their first win.
Levante 0-0 Real Sociedad: In a game not only missing goals but any clear cut chances as well, the home side were held to a second home goalless draw of the new campaign. Sociedad keeper Claudio Bravo had to wait until the second-half before being called into action. The visitor’s Mexican striker Carlos Vela came closest to breaking the deadlock but was denied by the woodwork, before Levante’s Diop could only manage to curl his free-kick against the crossbar 10 minutes from the end.
