Four goals in the second-half of their La Liga encounter saw Real Madrid destroy Rayo Vallecano 5-0 at the Santiago Bernabeu on Saturday evening.
Gareth Bale continued with his goalscoring form the Galaticos by netting a brace, while Daniel Carvajal, Cristiano Ronaldo and Alvaro Morata also got onto the scoresheet for the home side.
The home side nearly broke the deadlock after three minutes when Karim Benzema collected a pass inside the box, only to steer his low drive close to the left post.
But the pace was set for Carlo Ancelotti’s side when Bale got set up a goal for Ronaldo. The Portiguese picked up the Welshman’s pass inside the box and quickly sent it into the bottom left corner.
At the restart, Real Madrid made it 2-0 after Daniel Carvajal fired a perfect low shot down the middle of the goal and past the visiting goalkeeper.
Vallecano had a chance of their own when Saul Niguez rose high to connect onto a cross from a corner kick, and from near the penalty spot he powered a header that hit the left post.
Real Madrid’s dominance continued on and it was 3-0 on 68 minutes. Di Maria produced a sweet pass to pick out Bale inside the box and he quickly took a shot which left the goakeeper helpless.
Two more goals in the space of six minutes were added by Madrid with Bale converting his effort into a goal, before Alvaro Morata connected onto a corner kick and fired an effort from the edge of the box.
