Barcelona’s chance of winning the La Liga took a knock on Saturday evening when they lost 1-0 away to Granada at the Estadio Los Carmenes.
Barcelona have now opened the door for Atletico Madrid to increase their lead to four points over them, if Atletico win their match on Sunday against Getafe.
The first chance on target fell to Martin Montoya in the 13th minute, but Orestis Karnezis made the save to deny his headed attempt.
Granada grabbed the lead in the 17th minute when Moroccan International Yacine Brahimi ran onto Fran Rico’s through ball and beat Pinto with his right-footed shot.
From then on Barcelona bombarded the home team’s goal, but couldn’t find the equalising goal.
Barcelona had almost thirty attempts at goal in the match, but less than a third were on target.
In the 25th minute Pedro was almost set up by Lionel Messi but Karnezis made a good low save.
On the half hour mark, Karnezis denied Neymar with a good save, as the Brazilian tried a shot with his left foot from outside the box.
Pinto had to be awake in the 36th minute as Piti tried a shot for Granada but the Barcelona keeper denied him.
The second half saw much of the same with the visitors pushing for an equaliser.
In the 54th minute, Fabregas hit a shot from the centre of the goal that was cleared off the line by the Granada defense.
In the 62nd minute Messi hit a brilliant freekick that was saved by Karnediz.
In the 80th minute Neymar rounded the keeper, and hit a shot that was cleared off the line by the Granada defence.
Barcelona piled the pressure on but Granada held on for a famous victory.
