Defender Bongani Khumalo spent the night on the bench as his side, PAOK, beat Asteras Tripolis 2-1 away from home in a Greek Super League play-off match on Wednesday night.
PAOK hit the front in the 77th minute through Stefanos Athanasiadis before Konstantinos Katsouranis doubled their advantage three minutes later.
The hosts were given some hope in the 89th minute when Gordon Schildenfeld was sent off for a foul in the area and Emmanuel Perrone slotted the resulting penalty to make it 2-1.
PAOK managed to see out the win though and remain level on points with top team PAS Giannina, who drew 1-1 with Atromitos, though they are in second place due to an inferior goal difference.
