Kaizer Chiefs Diski Sides’ ‘Showboating’ Makes The Round In Spain
Last weekend, Kaizer Chiefs' MultiChoice Diski side left Mzansi’s football fans in awe with their silky skills and outrageous showboating. The video clip made rounds on the internet and was now even picked up by Spanish media.
The Amakhosi reserves beat Platinum Stars 4-2 in the MultiChoice Diski Challenge on Saturday and in the dying minutes of the match they decided to kill the game off in true South African style.
Spanish publication Marca posted the clip on their website and it was accompanied by an article with the headline “South African youth team humiliate opponents with in-game rondo”.
“Football teams across the globe warm up for their training sessions and matches with rondos, the piggy-in-the-middle game, but the Kaizer Chiefs reserves team took it to another level by performing one during a match,” the article on Marca read.
“With time running out and with a 4-2 advantage over Platinum Stars on the scoreboard, they set up in triangles and passed the ball around their rivals.
“Even when the opportunity to advance towards the opposition goal arose, the players would halt and turn back, passing the ball around yet another defender.
“Tricks, no-look passes and dabs were added in too, completing the humiliation.”
Kaizer Chiefs' reserves are currently in sixth place on the MDC table, 10 points behind first-place Golden Arrows.
