Juventus moved three points clear at the top of Serie A with a narrow 2-1 victory over Chievo at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.
The visitors went in front early through Alessandro Matri and Stephan Lichtsteiner increased the advantage just before the break.
Cyril Thereau pulled one back for the mid-table side soon after the interval but Juve got a deserved win.
The home side would have been looking to keep it tight against the champions but were down a goal after only 10 minutes.
Matri made a sweet connection with Arturo Vidal's cross from the right and his volley flew into the bottom corner.
Giovinco was then played in by the goal scorer but could not force his effort on target after evading a few defenders.
Gianluigi Buffon made his first stop midway through the half as he kept out Alberto Paloschi's effort.
Matri and Giovinco combined again just before the break and Lichtsteiner picked up the latter’s backheel to slot home.
Chievo were back in seven minutes after the interval as Perparim Hetemaj found Thereau who converted neatly.
Thereau had an excellent chance to put his team level minutes later but Buffon pulled off a sharp save to deny him.
Chievo keeper Christian Puggioni had to be at his best to keep out Paolo De Ceglie's effort and then watched as Andrea Pirlo’s free-kick went just over the bar.
