With images of Virgil van Dijk kicking a ball making the rounds on social media, Jurgen Klopp has provided an update on the defender's recovery after he underwent surgery last year.
The Dutch defender suffered knee ligament damage after a challenge from Everton shot-stopper Jordan Pickford in October last year.
There have been images on social media this week of the defender kicking a ball on a field, but Klopp has insisted he does not know when he will return to action.
"I don't know what is possible and what is not possible; I don't think I'm the right person to judge that 100%," he said, as per the club's official website.
"He looks really good. I spoke to him this morning, I had him on the phone – he is in a really good mood. So it's all very promising. But I don't know when he will be back.
"There are for sure a lot of stages still to go over or pass or whatever. That's clear. I had this injury myself.
"But for the time we are in and for how long he is out now, how long the rehabilitation is going on, he looks really, really promising. But that's all."
With fellow centre-back Joe Gomez also injured and Joel Matip having had a few injury niggles of his own, Klopp has been using Jordan Henderson and Fabinho in the centre of the Reds' defence for their latest two Premier League matches.
