The Reds made history for all the wrong reasons on the weekend when they became the first Premier League champions to concede seven goals in a match.
While it was certainly a night to forget for Liverpool, it was a night to savour for Ollie Watkins and company, with Villa now on nine points after three consecutive wins since the start of the campaign.
After the match, Klopp lambasted his side's lacklustre effort, saying the Villans simply wanted it more than the Reds at times.
"The strange result is because Aston Villa played really well and we did, in different areas, particularly bad," he said, according to Sportsmole.
"Pretty much everybody made massive mistakes around the goals, and the first one was obviously Adrian. That was a big mistake, but how we reacted was an even bigger mistake.
"In different challenges, Aston Villa definitely wanted it more than us. That's something I saw and don't like.
"A game like tonight should not happen, 100%."
Liverpool's first match after the upcoming international break will be against rivals Everton, who are currently at the top of the Premier League table with four wins in four games.
