Jupp Wants Real Job

Incredibly, Jupp Heynckes could win a Bundesliga, Champions League and German Cup treble this season, yet still find himself unemployed.

The veteran manager is being replaced by Pep Guardiola at Bayern Munich next season, and he is not especially pleased about it.

Heynckes’ contract with Bayern is up soon, and so the Bavarian club has not done anything wrong by plumping for Pep.

But Heynckes has ensured that he will be as tough an act to follow as Pep himself was when he left Barcelona.

When Bayern announced that they had secured Guardiola’s services in the middle of this season, they also suggested that 67-year-old Heynckes would be retiring for good.

And while the thought had been percolating in his mind, his agent says that he has actually not decided to quit.

And it appears that Heynckes now has his eye on a possible return to Real Madrid, with whom he also won the Champions League before being sacked after just one season in 1998.

Los Blancos are in the market for a new boss after announcing Jose Mourinho’s impending departure.

They want Carlo Ancelotti from PSG, but the French club are not letting the Italian go without a fight.

And if last season’s Spanish champions want a no-nonsense minder to enforce some dignity and discipline over their fractious stars, they need look no further than Jupp.

"It is Florentino's decision," Heynckes’ agent Enrique Reyes told Spanish radio, referring to Real president Florentino Perez.

"If Florentino calls us we would accept the offer.

"The one who has to accept is not Heynckes it is Florentino.

"For the moment, he (Heynckes) is only retiring from the Bundesliga."

Could Jupp Heynckes be the man to revitalise Real Madrid after Mou’s departure?
