Chelsea boss, Jose Mourninho, has praised Paris Saint-Germain's squad strength ahead of the Champions League quarter-final first leg in Paris.
Mourinho recently upset his counter-part Laurent Blanc, by stating the French Ligue 1 is ‘easy to win’, but was full of charm in his pre-match press conference yesterday.
The Portuguese, whose first European game in charge of Chelsea was against PSG around the time when Roman Abramovich started to invest into the Blues squad, has compared Paris’ project to what he and the Chelsea owner have built at Stamford Bridge.
"You can find similarities. When Mr Abramovich bought the club he was ready and keen and the football rules were open to that, so the investment was important," said Mourinho.
"Ours was probably the most important investment in that period and as a consequence of that Chelsea built year after year some of the best teams in European football.”
While Chelsea are now firmly established in Europe’s elite, PSG’s Qatari owners are less than three years into their ambitious project, and Mourinho was in awe of the strength of their squad.
"Paris is doing the same, some people don't understand very well how it will look with Financial Fair Play, but the reality is that in the last two years the investment was massive, that the choice of players was fantastic,” he continued.
"Leonardo (former sporting director) started here a fantastic period of spending money but buying the right players.
“At this moment, the team is full of really good players, the passion in the city is also good and the Parc des Princes is a beautiful place to play.
"Now they are dominant in France the same way Chelsea was chasing season after season the Champions League, reaching semi-finals and finals. They are doing the same and they want to win."
Mourinho insists the hosts are the favourites for their Champions League tie, because of their higher quality in the attacking positions.
"It's a team full of fantastic strikers and goal-scorers and that is what really makes the difference in this level,” he added.
"You look to the teams in the top eight at this moment, all of them good teams, good structures, with a certain philosophy, but after that you go and you see Messi, Ronaldo, Lewandowski, Diego Costa, Ibrahimovic (PSG), Cavani (PSG), Lavezzi (PSG).
"They (PSG) have lots of them. At this level it's a very important part of a team."
Meanwhile, PSG coach, Laurent Blanc, has responded to Mourinho’s earlier comments and hit back at the former Real Madrid coach.
"There are two really big clubs in Ligue 1 (PSG and Monaco), but if I remember correctly, I think it was the same for him in Spain, with Barcelona and Madrid,” Blanc said.
“The only answer we want to give is to show a great performance tomorrow and we'd like to show that Ligue 1 has some very good teams and some very good players."
