Chelsea manager, Jose Mourinho, would reportedly prefer to sign Atletico Madrid’s Koke instead of Cesc Fabregas.
Fabregas seems to have fallen out of favour at Camp Nou and the Blaugrana themselves have set their sights on Koke.
Reports of Chelsea being in the driving seat to sign Fabregas have heated up over the last few days, but the Guardian claims that Mourinho is unsure about the Spaniard.
Koke is five years younger than Fabregas and has been instrumental in Atletico Madrid’s campaign, which ended with the La Liga title and runners-up in the Champions League
In addition, there have been personal differences between Fabregas and Mourinho.
The Spain international had told Barcelona critics – namely Mourinho – to ‘shut up’ after the Catalan giants beat Manchester City in the Champions League last 16 in February.
Fabregas' stock has fallen considerably from last summer. Then, Manchester United had a £35m (R 630 million) bid rejected for him by Barcelona, with Fabregas reportedly prepared to move to Old Trafford.
The player himself seems to be relaxed about the situation and it becomes less likely that a deal will be concluded before the World Cup starts next week.
