Mascherano Set To Extend Barca Stay
Barcelona midfielder, Javier Mascherano, is set to sign a new deal at the club that will see him extend his stay until 2018.
The midfielder had initially agreed a new deal before jetting out to the World Cup with Argentina, and the Catalan giants confirmed the 30-year-old will sign a new.
"FC Barcelona have announced that Javier Mascherano will sign an improved and extended contract on Tuesday August 26 that will see him stay at the club until June 30, 2018." A statement on the club's official website read.
"This extension was agreed and announced just before the start of the World Cup in Brazil, where Mascherano was playing for Argentina. The new contract includes a buyout clause set at 100 million euros."
The club also confirmed Mascherano has joined up with the first team for pre-season training and is expected to play in Monday night's Joan Gamper Trophy.
