Barcelona have announced that midfielder, Javier Mascherano, has extended his contract at the club to 2018.
The Argentine, who has been converted into a center back in recent years, has extended his current contract by four years, with an option of an additional year, while the midfielder's buy-out clause stands at 100 Million Euros.
Mascherano has been a vital player to Barca squad over the past few years, filling in for Carles Puyol on numerous occasions, while he's made a total of 44 appearances in the 2013-2014 campaign.
Since his move from Liverpool to the Nou Camp in 2010, Mascherano has gone on to lift two La Liga titles, two Super Cups, as well as the Champions League, Copa Del Rey and World Club Cup.
The defender is currently on international duty with Argentina, as they prepare for their 2014 World Cup campaign.
