It's a sight most of us would like to forget, but South Africa goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune's howler against Mauritania has now reached English shores.
Shabba Stunner Making Rounds In England
Bafana Bafana, who were in action against the minnows in an Africa Cup of Nations qualification match on Saturday, started off terribly and it all began with the Kaizer Chiefs No. 1.
Khune, who was the captain on the day, fumbled a tame free-kick which was directed straight at him from long range.
The goal made its rounds on social media on Sunday and got quite a reaction on the website 101 Great Goals, which had posted the video on Twitter. It has since racked up more than 80 000 views.
The tweet read: "Bafana Bafana keeper Itumeleng Khune concedes a hilariously bad goal v Mauritania".
The shot-stopper has admitted the mistake was bad one and apologised for his costly error.
"I committed a big mistake with the goal I let in and, after that, it was a huge mountain to climb. I had the ball covered but it took a swerve at the last minute and, unfortunately, I was too close to the poles and it went in," Khune told SAFA.net.
