Italy Announce Squad For Argentina & England Friendlies, Several Stars Snubbed

Interim manager Luigi Di Biagio has named the squad for Italy's upcoming friendlies against 2014 FIFA World Cup runners-up Argentina and Gareth Southgate's England, but several stars, including Nice's Mario Balotelli, missed out.

The fixtures will be the Azzurri's first since their 2018 World Cup play-off loss to Sweden in November, which confirmed that the Italians would not compete for the coveted trophy for the first time in six decades.

Italy will face Argentina in Manchester on Friday, 23 March, and then travel to London four days later to play England.

I really have nothing against Buffon but I really think that it's time for him to retire from international football now and give the likes of Donnaruma a chance. I mean like, Italy are in some sort of rebuilding phase so it's only fair for donnaruma to be an active member of that phase
