Portugal, without skipper Cristiano Ronaldo, had to wait until stoppage time to grab a late winner over Mexico in their 1-0 win on Friday. Bruno Alves popped up to head a Joao Moutinho free-kick past Mexico goalkeeper Guillermo Ochoa deep into stoppage time.
Russia finished their warm-up games ahead of the World Cup with a comfortable 2-0 win over Morocco. Vasily Berezutsky put Russia in front in the 29th minute after the defender got on the end corner before Yuri Zhirkov scored a spectacular volley to seal the win for the Russians.
Colombia needed two penalties to overcome Jordan 3-0 in their friendly clash. James Rodriguez and Juan Cuadrado gave the South Americans a wonderful start before Fredy Guarin finished the scoring for Colombia in the 90th minute of the game.
Nikica Jelavic scored the only goal of the game as Croatia defeated Australia 1-0 in their final warm-up game before the World Cup.
Yoshito Okubo scored in the 91st minute, giving Japan a 4-3 victory over Zambia after the Africans had taken an early two goal lead. Christopher Katongo and Nathan Sinkala gave Zambia an early lead only for Keisuke Honda’s brace and Shinji Kagawa’s goal to give Japan the lead. Lubambo Musonda made it 3-3 in the 89th minute but Japan’s Okubo was on hand to steal a victory for the Asians.
Ireland and 10 man Costa Rica played out to a 1-1 draw in their friendly. Kevin Doyle, making his first start under Martin O'Neill, handed Ireland the lead with his 13th international goal before Gonzalez lost his head and was show red, only for Celso Borges to level from the penalty spot after the break to share the spoils.
Greece earned a confidence boosting 2-1 win over Bolivia ahead of the World Cup. Panagiotis Kone and Konstantinos Katsouranis scored for the Greeks with Rudy Cardozo grabbing a 70th minute goal for Bolivia.
