Germany struck late in the second half to secure a 2-1 win over Peru in an international friendly on Sunday evening.
The Germans should have been ahead after 14 minutes when Toni Kroos' corner found Matthias Ginter, who headed straight goalkeeper Pedro Gallese from six-yards out.
Germany were made to rue that miss as Peru got the breakthrough goal as Luis Advíncula sent a fine low finish past Marc-Andre Ter Stegen in the 22nd minute.
Peru's joy was short-lived though as the hosts restored parity three minutes later thanks to a Julian Brandt who chipped the on-rushing Gallese.
Joachim Low's men had the ball in the back of the net after through Timo Werner in the 34th minute, although the forward's strike was flagged offside.
The hosts ended the half as the stronger side but they were unable to find a second goal and went into the break level pegging.
Ten minutes into the second half, Werner should have put the Germans head after being played in by Brandt, but the RB Leipzig forward failed to hit the target with only the goalkeeper to beat.
Nils Petersen was introduced by Germany after 70 minutes and nearly made the perfect impact, but he failed to steer his volley on target from close range.
Germany eventually snatched the winning goal with five minutes remaining as Nico Schulz marked his debut with a goal, although Gallese made a meal of the strike.
