Cameroon, Germany In Entertaining Draw

Four goals in twelve minutes saw Germany and Cameroon play to an entertaining 2-2 draw in an international friendly at the Olympic Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Germany started the better of the two teams and had their first effort on goal in the opening minute of the match when Mesut Ozil fired inches wide from just inside the box.

Three minutes later Per Mertesacker hit the crossbar with a header after latching onto a Marco Reus corner-kick.

Cameroon’s first decent effort of the game came in the 18th minute after Samuel Eto’o found some space on the edge of the box, but his shot was well-saved by the keeper.

Germany were back at it again in the 36th minute when Sami Khedira met a Reus corner-kick, but his close range header went inches wide of the target.

Cameroon had the last say of the half when Joel Matip met a Henri Bedimo cross four minutes before the break, but his header was saved by the keeper.

The start of the second half saw Cameroon take the ascendancy and break the deadlock in the 62nd minute when Eto’o found the bottom right hand corner of the net after latching onto a Alex Song pass, 1-0.

Germany restored parity four minutes later when Thomas Muller headed home a Jerom Boateng cross, 1-1.

In the 71st minute Germany took the lead when Lukas Podolski played Andre Schurrle into space and he made no mistake from just inside the box, 2-1.

Cameroon, though, were not to be outdone and hit back seven minutes later after a clinical finish from Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting from an acute angle on the left side of the six-yard box, 2-2.

Neither team could go on to find the winner as the match ended all-square.
