Real Madrid suffered a 1-2 loss to Fiorentina in their last pre-season friendly match before they kick start their La Liga campaign next weekend.
Madrid were the first to draw first blood as a quick counter attack in the fourth minute produced the first goal of the match through none other than Cristiano Ronaldo.
The reigning World player of the year, started the play, running at the defence and combined with teammate, Angel Di Maria, who returned the ball to the Portuguese forward, before easily slotting home into an empty net for the opener.
Real Madrid dominated the midfield battle throughout the first half, while Fiorentina struggled to find time on the ball, but their back line kept shape well and made it difficult for Los Blancos to break them down.
Newly signed, Keylor Navas made his Real Madrid debut, while Di Maria and Sami Khedira were named in the starting XI.
Germany international Mario Gomez brought his team back into the game with an equalizer in the 27th minute, after an assist by Aquilani.
Gomez and Aquilani were both taken out late in the second half.
Fiorentina went into the lead for the first time in the match in the 70th minute through a Marcos Alonso’s goal.
It was a lovely individual effort from the left-back, as he beat two defenders with a bit of skill, before cutting into the centre and placing a righted footed shot past an outstretched Navas to put his side into the lead.
The Serie A side held onto the lead to clinch a 2-1 victory over the recently crowned UEFA Super Cup winners.
