Marco Materazzi’s feud with Rafa Benitez has taken another turn, after he hit out again at the Spanish manager.
Recently Materazzi gave a scathing critique of Benitez’s brief spell in charge of Inter Milan.
Included in his criticism was the suggestion that Benitez removed photographs of his predecessor at the San Siro, Jose Mourinho, from the dressing room.
Benitez clearly took umbrage at Materazzi’s assertions, and slammed the infamous defender as a “liar.”
"In Italy everyone knows Materazzi and everyone at Inter knows him, he's a liar," he fumed after Materazzi’s comments came to light.
"He's lying, just lying. Everything he has said is a lie. I've spoken to his family and they told me I had to understand him so I want to respect him and be nice, but everyone knows him. He cannot discredit anyone because everyone knows him. Forget about him."
However, having woken the sleeping dogs, Materazzi refuses to let them back into their kennel.
And he has now insulted Benitez about his weight on Italian website Gazza Offside.
"So I'm a liar," the World Cup winner scoffed.
"[Benitez is] thin then, so that gives reason to call me a liar.
"It pains me to say good luck to Chelsea but I will anyway. I feel sorry for their fans. If I was president of a club, I would not trust him with my team."
