Chelsea’s in-form winger, Eden Hazard, says the Blues have the qualities to win the title this year and that the three points from Monday could become very important.
Chelsea sit now level on points with the Citizens and only two points behind log leaders Arsenal, and despite Jose Mourinho claiming his side are not yet ready for title glory this season, Hazard says they can finish on top.
The Belgian has been Chelsea’s star performer in recent weeks and praised his side’s offensive performance, which was based on the intention to win the game Etihad Stadium.
"Lots of people thought that we would just set out to defend," Hazard is quoted in The Sun.
"But it was the opposite.
"We analysed City's style of play very well before the game and we came along to win.
"The discussions we had in advance were all about winning. The manager said, 'Don't defend, you are here to attack and score goals'. He said the same to all our attacking players.”
The 23-year-old then confirmed Chelsea have the qualities to win the league and believes the three points from Monday could be very important in the title race.
"We really did things in fine style. The three points will be important in the title race,” Hazard added.
"We are aiming to win the league. It won't be easy, but we won't give up, we have the qualities needed to do it.
"Let's see what happens between now and the end of the season."
Hazard’s teammate and defender, Gary Cahill, also claims there was never any intention of sitting back and playing for a 0-0 draw.
"It makes me laugh when people say that. It was a class performance,” the England international said.
“We had to weather the storm for the first 10 or 15 minutes but the work-rate was fantastic and we managed to get the result we deserved overall.
"Jose has the CV for a reason. He is obviously a top-quality manager and we worked on a few things in the last couple of days which he was adamant we put into practice.
"The club is a massive club and when you have that and massive players, and you add a massive manager, I think it combines really well.
Chelsea's 1-0 stopped Man City’s 100 percent home record and was the Citizens first loss after 19 games unbeaten. The Blues are now unbeaten in their last nine Premier League games and could be a real title threat.
