Hazard Goal Sees Off Swansea

A solitary Eden Hazard goal was enough for Chelsea, as they beat Swansea City 1-0 at Stamford Bridge.

The win sees Chelsea move up to second in the league standings, two points behind leaders Arsenal, while Swansea remain in 11th.

Ramires had an early effort on goal in the seventh minute, but the Brazilian's long range strike failed to trouble Gerhard Tremmel.

John Terry had a chance in the 18th minute, after being picked out by Oscar on the edge of the box, the Captain mishit his volley but Tremel was on hand to tip the ball over.

Eden Hazard gave Chelsea the lead in the 29th minute, the Belgian cut in from the left and then fired home past Tremmel from the edge of the area.

Minutes later, Alavro Vasquez came close to equalising for the Swans, after a flick on by Jonjo Shelvey, the ball landed at Vasquez's feet but the Spaniard's effort was tipped over by Peter Cech.

Samuel Eto'o nearly doubled the Blues lead in the 41st minute after being played through by Juan Mata, but the Cameroonian failed to beat Tremmel from inside the area.

seconds after the restart, Tremmel pulled off a brilliant save from point-blank range to deny Samuel Eto'o, after a cross from Mata.

Substitute Frank Lampard came close doubling the home side's lead in the 72nd minute with a low strike which was turned around the post by Tremmel.

Michael Laudrup's men failed to get any shots on target during the 90 minutes.
