Hazard Fires Chelsea To Win

An Eden Hazard inspired Chelsea saw the Blues to a hard fought 2-0 win over Hull City in an English Premier League match at the KC Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

Hazard opened the scoring in the second half before Fernando Torres made the points certain with a late goal.

Hull made a bright start to the match as they held their own and got the better of the Chelsea defence early on, but they were unable to produce the correct ball in the final third.

Chelsea, on the other hand, struggled to get into the game in the opening stages and were left frustrated by some stray passing.

The first real chance of the game only came in the 23rd minute and went the way of Hull as Alex Bruce rose highest to meet a cross, but his powerful header went narrowly wide.

Two minutes later a sloppy pass from John Terry gifted Hull another chance as Yannick Sagbo pounced on the loose ball, but he wasted a golden opportunity as he fired wide with the goal at his mercy.

As the half progressed Chelsea began taking the ascendancy which saw Hazard create Chelsea’s first chance on goal as he burst down the left flank and squared the ball for Oscar only a couple of yards out, but he saw his effort magnificently saved by Allan McGregor.

Seconds before the half time whistle David Luiz tried his luck on goal with a long range free-kick, but McGregor was on hand again for Hull with a great save.

The second 45 saw Chelsea pick up where they left off as Hazard danced his way through the Hull backline in the 50th minute, beating two defenders, before seeing his effort deflected just wide.

Three minutes later Luiz tried another effort from distance, but again he was thwarted by a superb save from McGregor.

In the 56th minute Chelsea made their early second half pressure tell when Hazard found the back of the net with a clinical finish. Hazard showed excellent skill to beat numerous markers, before firing the ball into the corner of the net form the edge of the box, 1-0.

Hull tried to fight their way back into the match thereafter, but struggled to break down a well-organised defence, and in trying to find the equaliser they also left themselves exposed to the counter.

In the 74th minute Luiz almost made use of the counter when he sparked a move from the back that resulted in Oscar taking a shot on goal, but his effort was well-blocked.

Fernando Torres put the result beyond doubt three minutes from time after beating Bruce on his way into the box before beating McGregor at the near post, 2-0.
