Former Arsenal manager George Graham believes that the Gunners are on the verge of having a magnificent team but feels that Arsene Wenger needs to sign a striker in the January transfer window.
Graham praised what Wenger has achieved at the helm of the London side and is confident that the Frenchman has built another winning side, but he is adamant that the signing of a striker is imperative.
“[Wenger] has produced absolutely magnificent teams at Arsenal,” Graham declared, “He’s on the verge of doing it again.”
“Giroud had a very good start to the season, but the last few games he’s looked a little bit jaded,” he told talkSPORT, “he looks as if he needs a rest.”
“This is where Arsenal are not blessed with having other centre-forwards. They badly need one in the transfer window.”
The former Gunners star, who won 10 major trophies for Arsenal as a player and manager, then claimed it was sad that a top four place finish in the Premier League might be considered more important than winning the FA Cup.
“To finish in the top four, financially, is more rewarding than winning the FA Cup, which I think is very sad,” he said.
“You can show your grandchildren your FA Cup medal, but you can’t do it for finishing fourth.”
