Borussia Monchengladbach have played down rumours that their goalkeeper, Marc-Andre ter Stegen, could sign for Real Madrid.
Los Blancos have already signed former Sevilla ‘keeper Diego Lopez this January, and still have injured club legend Iker Casillas between the sticks for the long-term.
It seems unlikely that the Spanish champions will move for another shot-stopper now, but the speculation in the Spanish media that Real want ter Segen will not go away.
20-year-old Gladback born ter Stegen is thought of as the best young ‘keeper in the business, and has reportedly featured on the transfer radars of a host of top European clubs.
He has already played twice for the senior German national team, and is the third-youngest ‘keeper in Bundesliga history to win 50 caps in the top flight.
Since Casillas was ruled out of football for a significant period with a broken hand, the rumours of Real’s interest in ter Stegen have come thick and fast.
However, Monchengladbach’s chairman, Max Eberl, insists that the young ‘keeper is not Bernabeu bound.
Asked about the rumours, Eberl told the Rheinische Post: “That’s nonsense.
“He is a fantastic keeper for his age will always be at the centre of speculation.
"He is contracted until 2015, and we are on our way to building something good with him.”
