A Steven Gerrard inspired Liverpool and a brace from Luis Suarez saw the Reds beat Fulham 4-0 in a Barclays Premiership match at Anfield on Saturday.
The win sees Liverpool jump above Chelsea on the league table who dropped points in their 2-2 draw with West Brom.
Liverpool sit on 23 points, two adrift of league leaders Arsenal and two above Chelsea.
The first 45 minutes was a commanding performance form the home side as the dictated terms from the outset and took a convincing three goal lead into the break.
The Reds made their intentions clear as early as the second minute when a corner-kick fell to Daniel Agger six-yards out form goal, but he powered his volley just over the crossbar.
In the tenth minute Philippe Coutinho pulled the best out of Maarten Stekelenburg, the keeper getting down low to stop a 25-yar thunderbolt from the Liverpool man.
Finally in the 23rd minute Liverpool made their pressure tell as they took the lead, but the goal came from the head of a Fulham players as Fernando Amorebieta nodded the ball into his own net off a Steven Gerrard free-kick.
Three minutes later and Liverpool doubled their lead after Martin Skrtel powerful headed home a Gerrard corner-kick, 2-0.
In the 36th minute Luis Suarez got in on the act as he latched onto a pin-point pass from Jordan Henderson and made no mistake with a clinical finish, 3-0.
The second 45 saw Liverpool take their foot of the gas a little, but still they pressed forward and were rewarded with their fourth goal ten minutes after the restart.
Suarez grabbed his second of the day when he ran onto a Gerrard through ball and smashed it beyond Stekelenburg, 4-0.
Fulham tried to fight their way back into the game, but were unable to do so as Liverpool picked up all three points and moved into second place on the log after Chelsea drew 2-2 against West Brom on Saturday as well.
