Germany battled to a 3-3 draw at home to Paraguay after twice falling behind in a friendly match in Kaiserslautern on Wednesday.
Both sides put out strong teams but the visitors would stun their opponents with early strikes from Jose Nunez and Wilson Pittoni. Ilkay Gundogan and Thomas Muller brought the hosts level but Miguel Samudio restored the advantage for the South Americans.
Lars Bender made it 3-3 and although the Germans made chances to take the win, it would not have been deserved on the night.
Marco Reus worked the goalkeeper with an early free-kick but they responded with Nunez tucking away a long pass against the run of play in the ninth minute.
Miroslav Klose missed out on an equaliser moments later when he dinked his finish over the crossbar and that would be punished with Pittoni thumped a finish home after poor defending from the hosts.
Germany were back in the game by the 18th minute though as Gundogan curled his strike home and they were level in the 31st minute as Muller beat the offside trap before slotting a composed finish past the goalkeeper.
Before that, Gundogan had cleared off the line but Germany would find themselves trailing again just before the break as Samudio tucked away Roque Santa Cruz's square ball.
Mario Gomez was thrown into the mix after the break and worked the goalkeeper before Bender rifled in the equaliser with 15 minutes to go.
Andre Schurrle had the best chance to snatch the win in the dying seconds but he somehow missed from close range with the goal at his mercy as the game ended in a stalemate.
