Goals from Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Adrian Ramos and a brace from Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang saw Borussia Dortmund beat Stuttgarter Kickers 4-1 in Round One of the German DFB Pokal Cup at the Mercedes-Benz-Arena on Saturday.
Dortmund started the better of the two sides and made their first half pressure pay off with the opening goal on the half hour mark.
Henrikh Mkhitaryan found the opening goal with an expert left-foot finish from roughly 14-yards out after turning home a Lukasz Piszczek pass, 1-0.
Dortmund continued to dominate the half, but failed to add to the scoreline before the break.
Ten minutes after the restart, however, Dortmund did double their lead when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang produced a right footed shot from a difficult angle on the left to the bottom right corner, 2-0.
Stuttgarter, though, were not going to go down without a fight and managed to pull a goal back in the 60th minute when Randy Edwini-Bonsu turned the ball home from close range after a goalmouth scramble, 2-1.
Dortmund made sure of the win in the 78th minute when Aubameyang grabbed his second goal after turning home another Piszczek pass from six-yards out, 3-1.
The cherry on top for Dortmund was their fourth goal in the 90th minute, scored by Adrian Ramos, 4-1.
