Bayer Leverkusen 2-1 Hertha Berlin
Bayer Leverkusen beat Hertha Berlin 2-1 on Sunday afternoon to move back into the Champions League places in the Bundesliga table.
It was less than a minute before the hosts got off to the ideal start when Stefan Kiessling rose above everyone else and planted a header past Thomas Kraft.
Sascha Lewandowski's men doubled their advantage on 24 minutes when as Julian Brandt curled beyond the reach of Kraft to make it 2-0.
Hertha Berlin halved the deficit 14 minutes later but it wasn’t enough to complete a comeback. Sandro Wagner connected onto a Tolga Cigerci free-kick to head home from inside the six-yard box.
Hoffenheim 2-0 Augsburg
Hoffenheim scored two first-half goals to move nine points off a European berth with their 2-0 win over Augsburg on Sunday evening.
The deadlock was broken on 19 minutes when Sejad Salihović sent in a 25-metre free kick inside the right post. It was too difficult for the goalkeeper to make a save as the hosts embraced the positive start.
Jannik Vestergaard then doubled Hoffenheim’s lead just before the interval. There were a few unlucky rebounds inside the box and pounced on a loose ball to nod it down the middle of the goals.
