Three finals and three titles. Gareth Bale had a great debut season at Real Madrid and could add his fourth trophy this week.
The Welshman always claimed he signed for the Los Blancos to win trophies and he has played a massive part in all of the club's finals.
After a stuttering start to his life in Spain, Bale’s first highlight came in the Copa del Rey final when he scored Real’s winner against Barcelona following a brilliant run from the halfway line.
Bale’s most important goal of his career, however, came in the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid. His header gave Real the lead in extra-time and helped the club to win their tenth European Cup – the famous ‘La Decima’.
Bale also assisted Ronaldo’s first goal with a sublime cross in the UEFA Super Cup last week, which took his final tally to two goals and one assist.
The 25-year-old is eager to continue his trophy-hunt against Atletico in the Spanish Supercopa this week. Diego Simeone admitted yesterday that, “Bale is better than last year”, and the Argentinian knows the fast winger is in brilliant shape.
Having completed a full pre-season, Bale looks full of confidence and raring to go, while some of the other World Cup stars are still lacking fitness.
Many expect that Bale will even be stronger this season and improve on his 18 goals and 22 assists in 45 games for Real, which were only bettered by Cristiano Ronaldo.
Bale and Real are facing Atletico in the first leg of the Spanish Supercopa tonight, with the return leg taking place on Friday.
