Bayern Munich’s honorary president, Franz Beckenbauer, has opened the door for Sami Khedira, who seems to have fallen out of favor at Real Madrid.
The 27-year-old was again not included in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad for last night’s first leg in the Spanish Supercopa and has so far resisted to sign a new contract at Bernabeu.
Khedira has just one year left on his deal with the Los Blancos and has been linked with a move to Arsenal or Chelsea this summer.
However, Beckenbauer has now linked his club with Khedira after the German giants are looking for a replacement for the injured Javi Martinez.
“Khedira fits into any team,” he told Sportbild.
"He would fit in even very well. He plays incredibly strongly in the 6 role.
"Either with (Bastian) Schweinsteiger or (Philipp) Lahm, he would be perfect."
Khedira was instrumental in Germany’s World Cup triumph after missing most parts of last season due to a serious injury.
However, with the arrival of Toni Kroos and James Rodriguez, his game time at Real Madrid seems limited this year.
