Barcelona returned to winning ways in fine style on Sunday as Lionel Messi led them to a 5-1 La Liga victory over Osasuna.
The Blaugrana talisman scored no less than four goals to help the hosts to a comfortable win while Pedro also got on the scoresheet and Raoul Cedric Loe netted a consolation goal for the visitors.
The goal-fest kicked off in the 11th minute when Andres Fernandez gave the ball away cheaply to Xavi, who slid a perfect pass to Messi. The Argentine then twirled around the Osasuna keeper before passing into the empty goal.
Osasuna were back in the match in the 24th minute as Loe equalised. Marc Bertran's cross into the area deflected to Loe who provided the strike into the bottom corner.
However, Barca were back in front four minutes later. Arribas handled the ball in the area and was shown his second yellow, reducing the visitors to 10 men and gifting the Catalans a penalty. Messi stepped up and slotted it.
The home side were two goals clear in the 40th minute. Xavi picked out Dani Alves and the full-back cut inside and set it up for Pedro to stick away.
Messi's hat-trick was completed 11 minutes after the break. David Villa provided the through-ball for Messi to steer home after rounding Fernandez.
The thrashing was capped off with a fifth goal only two minutes later as Messi found his fourth. Adriano found Messi at the edge of the box and the influential forward beat his markers to turn it home once more.
