Former Bafana Bafana and Manchester United midfielder, Quinton Fortune, has warned Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho not to underestimate David Moyes.
Moyes has been given a tricky first few league matches in charge of the Red Devils, with the visit of Mourinho’s Blues to Old Trafford the second game of the Scotsman’s United career.
Mourinho must be eyeing that encounter hungrily.
He never lost to United in the Premier League during his first stint as Chelsea boss, and helped Real Madrid eliminate the English title winners from the Champions League last season.
Moyes has also never won a match against Mourinho.
But even though Mourinho has good reason to be confident ahead of his clashes with Moyes’ United next season, Fortune has predicted that hubris could bring The Special One to his knees at the Theatre of Dreams.
Fortune thinks that Moyes has mettle, and can more than match Mourinho, now that he has more powerful tools at his disposal.
“Mourinho has been boasting about his record against United,” Fortune told MUTV. “He always brings it up.
“But this is a different manager, with a different style of play.
“If David Moyes brings the same desire and fighting spirit that he had at Everton I am sure Mourinho will find it tough.
“He is playing a completely different United and I am sure he is worried about that.
“He knew Sir Alex Ferguson for many years. He knows what type of team to play against him.
“It is a different ball game now.”
Is Moyes in the same league as Mourinho?
