It was claimed in the early hours of Wednesday morning that a Brighton & Hove Albion player was arrested after a girl had reportedly been sexually assaulted at a nightclub.

In 1995, former France international Eric Cantona was suspended from the sport for nine months after fly-kicking Crystal Palace fan Matthew Simmonds, who had reportedly been verbally abusing him throughout the encounter.
Cantona, regarded as one of the greatest players in United's history, is believed to have been in jail for just three hours before later pleading guilty to assault.
Two years prior, legendary Colombian goalkeeper Rene Higuita was imprisoned for his role in a kidnapping that allegedly involved Pablo Escobar, a notorious drug dealer who died in December 1993.
Earlier that year, Higuita, known for his "scorpion kicks", had reportedly delivered ransom money for the infamous cartel leader, which ultimately led to him being handed a seventh-month prison sentence without a trial.
More recently, Ronaldinho spent time in a Paraguayan jail after he and his brother, Roberto, were said to have attempted to enter the country using fake passports.
