Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson feels Phil Jones "has more in his locker" than Chelsea defender John Terry.
Jones, a £16.5 million signing from Blackburn in 2011, has impressed since returning earlier in the month from a back injury that threatened to derail his season.
The 20-year-old has started United's previous three games, with Ferguson pleased with the player's contribution.
"Jones has got more in his locker than John. Terry has got the experience and has become a fantastic central figure at Chelsea," Ferguson told reporters.
"But as a young player, John would be the first to admit he didn't have the pace of Phil Jones."
The Scot added: "Phil is a versatile boy, he can play anywhere.
"He's quick, two-footed, reads games well and is competitive. He’s doing very well."
