Alex Ferguson has lashed out at the FA, after the England Under 21 coach revealed that Phil Jones is sick with shingles.
Fergie had wanted the nature of his young defender’s absence to remain a secret, and is upset that Pearce violated “doctor confidentiality” (sic) by telling the media about Jones’ illness, ahead of England Under 21’s match against Sweden on Tuesday night.
"What about doctor confidentiality?" said Ferguson. "We are disappointed with that."
It is not the first time that Fergie has raged at the FA for making announcements about the fitness of Manchester United’s England internationals.
He was nonplussed earlier in the season when England coach Roy Hodgson revealed winger Ashley Young was suffering from a knee injury.
And Fergie hopes to speak to the FA, to ask them to plug the leaks when United players are injured.
“It is something we have to address," Ferguson said.
"The FA is a big organisation, things can leak from a lot of different places. But that was a conversation between our doctor and theirs, and shouldn't have gone any further."
